I Was Not Made for Here…

Okay, so I’ve given myself a day to calm down, and now I want to talk about something I’ve been kind of tight-lipped about over the last couple weeks–the Miss Virtual Italy 2017 pageant. This was something I’ve been involved in and very excited about over the last couple weeks. The winner, who was announced yesterday, won the opportunity to represent Italy in the upcoming Miss Virtual World competition, so as you can imagine, this had me bouncing off the walls.

I will say that this is not going to be a traditional post. I’m going to try to showcase some of the different outfits I wore throughout the competition, and since there’s quite a few and the list would likely be longer than the post on a whole, I’ll talk a bit about them, but please feel free to contact me (Novaleigh Freng) in-world for more specific styling cards. The main features of this blog will highlight my super-fabulous traditional costume and my formal from yesterday’s finale… In part because they were made specifically for me to wear in this competition, and because they are amazing.

Each of the girls who competed represented a different region of Italy. I was honored to represent Tuscany, which I fell in love with long ago. If ever I were to flee the country (as so many in my own country claim they plan to do if a certain person becomes President here), that would be where I would go. I love the landscapes, I love the history, and I was more than a little excited to get to rep Tuscany for this competition.

I will say that there weren’t a lot of us. When I first auditioned, I was terrified thinking that there would be tons of people there. I was surprised to see that there was not.But then I got to thinking about something else: Fewer people meant that this would be a tighter competition–I would get the chance to know my competition more intimately, but then when it really got down to the wire… Whew!

That added a bit of nervousness.

Or a lot, I’d say.

I had a lot of fun throughout this competition getting to know the other girls and getting to know the fabulous ladies that went through this process with me, and learning about the regions they represented and some absolutely amazing Italian designers.

The finale was yesterday afternoon, and let’s be honest for a second: I kind of wanted to vomit. I got up like three hours early, and I stood around, and I freaked out a little, and then I calmed down, and then I freaked out a little bit more…

And then it was time to walk that runway, and I kind of wanted to vomit again, but we all lined up, and everyone looked amazing…

At the end of the day, I ended up being awarded with 2nd Runner Up (about which I am damn proud, because I was competing with some amazing ladies). EtoileRose was 1st Runner Up, and the winner of Miss Virtual Italy 2017 was Joys Cuttita.

mvi formal

(This is my amazing formal from the talented Tivi Inglewood, the designer behind {Wynd}. I feel like an absolute princess in this gown (thanks, Tivi!) and actually spent most of the day wandering around in it. I’m not CERTAIN, but she MAY be putting variations of this gown in her store at some point… More on that later!)

This was my first competition of this size, and I had so much fun. I learned so much, and I met some amazing people. I’d do it all again.

I’d like to congratulate all of the beautiful ladies who competed (because you were all amazing). I would especially like to congratulate the lovely Joys Cuttita. And I would like to thank Delypop Cresci and Caesar Langer, who hosted the competition.
